Elisabeth’s art journey started at a young age. Inspired by her artist grandmother, Elisabeth earned her BFA at James Madison University and was a Graphic Designer and Art Director. Later, feeling the need to reconnect with her creativity she began painting again. This part of the journey has taken her from representational watercolor paintings, to mixed media studies that are more explorative. Elisabeth has served on the Board of Directors of the Arlington Artists Alliance, and is a member of the Art League of Alexandria and Falls Church Arts. Her paintings have been accepted into many juried shows, and won several awards, including First Prize in Connessione, Falls Church Arts. She has exhibited in shows throughout the state of Virginia. Elisabeth has had numerous solo shows including those at the Fisher Gallery in the Schlesinger Center in Alexandria, and the MacCallum More Museum and Gardens in Chase City, VA. She accepts commissions.
“I am inspired by everyday objects and scenes: cats napping in the afternoon, a family story, or my daughter’s jeans… these are the small things that start my creative process. My art is about taking familiar things and depicting them in a new and unusual way. I use various media and processes in my work, generally working with watercolor, acrylics, charcoal, pen and ink, monoprinting and collage.”
