AUGUST 2015 SHOWS & EVENTS
“Hiding in Plain Sight” – A Group Show by Arlington Artists Alliance Members
Show Dates: August 3 – 29, 2015
Opening Reception: Friday, August 7
In August, the Focus Gallery features “Hiding in Plain Sight,” an Arlington Artists Alliance members juried show. The required theme asks each artist to conceal a particular icon somewhere in their completed work, in this case it is the internet search icon – a simple magnifying glass.
This “Where’s Waldo”-esque theme engages the viewer to discover the hidden symbol. The show awards (Best in Show, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and Honorable Mentions) will be announced at the reception on Friday, August 7, 2015, 5-8PM. The range of media is wide: oil, acrylic, watercolor, patinated copper, quilted textile and other mixed media. Jean Gill, AWS, NWS, is the juror for this themed show.
Shown on postcard above: Bottles by Candlelight, by Jane McElvany Coonce, Oil, 18×36, $900 & Have You Sheen Me?, by Rebecca Barnes, Acrylic, 3×5, $125
