Harriet Westfall works in watermedia to express her interpretation of figures, landscapes and cityscapes. She began painting in oils but was drawn to the freshness of watercolor and began concentrating on developing her skills by taking classes and workshops. Her love of photography has been a useful tool for learning composition.
Currently, Harriet is exploring acrylics and collage in work that is more abstracted, finding that the new techniques and tools now available offer many opportunities for expression.
She is a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, the Miniature Sculptor and Gravers Society and the Baltimore Watercolor Society. She is also a member of The Art League of Alexandria, where she has been in their Bin Gallery for many years as well as winning awards in their show. She continues to take classes and paints in her studio at home.
