Susan Herron is a Washington, D.C. area artist who has been exhibiting for more than thirty-five years. Her award-winning paintings can be seen in numerous private and corporate collections including those of Hewlett-Packard, Hughes Network Systems, George Washington University, and the Virginia Dominion Power Company.
Susan is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society, the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and the Potomac Valley Watercolorists and has received numerous awards in national and regional exhibitions. Her work has been featured in “Splash 5: The Glory of Color”, “The Artistic Touch 4” and “The Artistic Touch 5” by Chris Unwin. This past year she received awards in the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic Exhibition and the Mid- Atlantic Watercolor Exhibition.
She enjoys experimenting with various media and feels comfortable using acrylic as well as watercolor. Her paintings are known for capturing light and mood. Recently she has experimented with layers of paint to reveal lush and complex textured surfaces.
Susan takes great pleasure in teaching. She has made a multitude of friends and many of her students have achieved tremendous personal and professional success. Her goal is to give the beginning students a solid foundation of skills and to give intermediate students a creative challenge and the desire for a personal artistic vision. Although her teaching schedule is now limited, she enjoys giving presentations and workshops throughout the year to many metropolitan art organizations.
