Focus Gallery: “Urban Edge” Solo Show by Sandi Parker
Main Gallery: March Members Show
Dates: March 1-25, 2016
Opening Reception: Friday, March 4, 5-8pm
Arlington, VA – The Focus Gallery in March features “Urban Edge,” Sandi Parker’s solo show of abstract acrylic paintings depicting urban living—chaotic, intense and sublime. Meant to evoke city walls, the paintings are highly textured, resembling the patina that results from many layers of peeling paint, graffiti and pasted flyers. The paintings are a marriage of abstract and street art. The artist says, “Urban beauty can be found in even the darkest alleys with decaying walls. In cities, everything is art if you take the time to see it.”
In addition to a new all-media March Members Show in the Main Gallery, also featured are realist painter George Bowles and a tribute to the American painter James McNeill Whistler.
