Focus Gallery: “View From Within” Solo Show by Anna Young Schalk
Main Gallery: June Members Show
Dates: May 30-June 25, 2016
Opening Reception: Friday, June 3, 5-8pm
Arlington, VA – During June, Gallery Underground is proud to feature “View from Within,” a solo show by local painter Anna Schalk. The exhibition explores the artist’s experience when interacting with another person.
The artist says, ”The complexity of each subject brings a challenge and an excitement that I want to celebrate with paint. Texture, color and shapes define my response to what I see and feel in our painting relationship. Sometimes those responses allow for abstraction and other times, not. However each work becomes my celebration of that Being, that life.”
In addition to a new June Members Show in the Main Gallery, also featured is the work of contemporary realist painter Dennis Crayon, a nationally recognized Washington, DC-based painter. Crayon’s work won top honors this month in the International Juried Art Exhibition of Contemporary Still Life and Trompe l’Oeil, currently on view through August in New Jersey.
